Theatre Membership
Being a member of a theatre group is unlike any other club or association. We do not hold regular meetings on regular nights so it is not always possible for prospective members to become involved straight away. Musicals are an ideal way for 'first-time' members to take part in a production as being in the chorus is a good learning ground for stage-craft. Our one-act plays also provide opportunities for newcomers who prefer the dramatic side of the theatre. Auditions are held for all our productions giving everyone an equal opportunity to be chosen.
Of course being on stage is not the only aspect of a theatre and our behind-the-scene helpers are just as important as our actors. We have many people who just like to be involved with the theatre in some external fashion and they often help 'front-of-house' during the run of a show, selling tickets, programmes, etc.
Annual membership of the theatre is very modest and ensures that members are covered by insurance whilst they are involved in the theatre's activities and also entitles them to a reduction on ticket prices. Monthly newsletters are sent to all members to keep them informed of theatre news, dates for auditions, productions, social gatherings and meetings.
