Calling for directors…
Noosa Arts Theatre is always interested in receiving submissions from directors wanting to stage productions including comedies, dramas, pantomimes, cabarets and musicals.
We’re also keen to hear from other creatives (choreographers, musical directors, musicians, vocal coaches etc) and tech gurus to assist with our productions!
2027 Season Proposals
We’re now accepting proposals for our 2027 production season.
We are looking to maintain our regular flagship programs of the One Act Plays festival, Shorts on Stage, at least one play and one musical, of at least 8 performances each (usually a two-week run for plays and three weeks for musicals). There is some flexibility in timing to allow for director availability and to avoid clashing with other local theatre programming.
Submitters are asked to complete a production proposal (see below for a link to the form) to provide information about the production and share their vision as a director.
Submissions will be reviewed by our Production Selection Panel, chaired by VP Nicola Wilson. The panel will determine which productions move to the next stage, at which stage directors will be asked to pitch.
In the coming years, we are looking to diversify our programming to attract new audiences and talent. While our current programming will continue to underpin our season, we are also planning short run and ‘front of curtain’ productions, which may showcase original material.
If you have a production idea that may not be suitable for our regular programming, please do submit for consideration for short runs/pop ups.
While we are looking for experienced directors for our key productions, we also encourage new talent and look to provide learning opportunities. If you are new to directing, we may be able to support you with an experienced mentor or assistant.
The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2026 and the panel will review submissions and invite directors to pitch in July.
The process to recruit the selection panel will start in June.
